About 25% of schwannomas occur in the head and neck region, usually involving cranial nerves and sympathetic chain; however, brachial plexus schwannomas are uncommon, occurring in 0.3–0.4/100 000 person per year. Their malignant potential is low, they can be locally destructive if allowed to progress. Primary tumours of the brachial plexus are unusual. Patients commonly seek medical attention

Schwannoma of the Brachial Plexus: A Rare Case Report
Introduction: Brachial plexus schwannomas are extremely rare tumours of the head and neck region accounting for less than 5 % overall. Due to its rarity and anatomic complexity of the brachial plexus, schwannomas in this region present a diagnostic and surgical challenge to the surgeon. Case Report: We present a case of a 56-year-old female who presented with a slow gr...
متن کاملSchwannoma of the brachial plexus; report of two cases involving the C7 root
Brachial plexus schwannomas are rare tumors. They are benign nerve sheath tumors and only about 5% of Schwannoma arise from the brachial plexus. They pose a great challenge to surgeons due to their rare occurrence and complex anatomical location. We present two cases who presented with a supraclavicular swelling, that were proven to be schwannoma on histopathology.
متن کاملNeurolymphomatosis of brachial plexus: A rare clinical presentation and the role of 18F-FDG PET/CT
Neurolymphomatosis (NLY) is a type of rare disease with poor prognosis, characterized by infiltration of nerves, nerve roots and plexus. We report a case of 54-years old female patient non-diabetic and normotensive diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia presented with pain in the neck and arm and numbness in the ipsilateral hand. The patient underwent 18F fluorodeoxyglucose PET/...
متن کاملSchwannoma of the brachial plexus presenting as an enlarging cystic mass: report of a case.
We report a rare case of schwannoma of the brachial plexus presenting as an enlarging cystic mass. A 52-year-old woman was found to have a rapidly enlarging cystic lesion in the left pectoralis minor space. Surgical exploration finally found that the lesion was schwannoma originating from the fascicles of the brachial plexus. Partial removal of the fluid enabled us to dissect the mass without d...
متن کاملNeurinomas of the brachial plexus: case report.
Neurinomas, also referred to as neurilemmomas and schwannomas, are rare benign tumours of the peripheral nerves, a low proportion of which arise from the brachial plexus. Authors report a case of an ancient schwannoma arising from the brachial plexus. The tumour, usually asymptomatic, may cause sensory radicular symptoms, or rarely motor deficits in the involved arm. Enucleation of the tumour f...
